Well, I got into the Christmas mood this weekend and got the house decorated. It’s always fun to pull out old favorites from the Christmas boxes. With the 2 cats and no kids, I don’t put up a tree. Mr. Red loves to climb to high places, and a tree would not last very long in this household. Now Buster, on the other hand, didn’t really care what what going on. He’d rather sleep and look cute…
We’ll have to see what Red does to the mantle that was just decorated with my village houses
Once upon a time, when I had better eyes and more patience, I was very much into needlework with embellishment. I made several felt wall hangings with lots of beads and sequins. I guess you could say these were my early appliqué quilts that I made when I was in my teens and early 20’s. I still have a UFO from those days, LOL. Wonder if I’ll ever finish it?
I gave this one to my grandparents over 30 years ago, and got it back after they passed away. It’s getting a little frayed around the edges, but I still love it anyway.
I made this one not long after I got married and kept it as one of our first Christmas decorations. It’s my favorite one.
And I made this Christmas card holder as well.
I’m pretty sure I made a few others and gave them away to family as Christmas gifts, but I don’t have any pictures. As you can see, I’ve been having a little fun tonight playing with making collages in Picasa.
How’s your holiday decorating coming along?
Take care,
The wall hangings are beautiful! I got my daughter's home decorated this weekend, but didn't do a thing for my own. She adores the tree and lights, so I had to get hers done early. Maybe during my stretch off work next week, I'll get mine done. I haven't put my village up in awhile...maybe this will be the year.
ReplyDeleteI like your wall hangings. It is nice to have something that you did years ago and still have it be a favorite.
ReplyDeleteLove those little felt pieces. Yes, they are a lot like applique. Lane
