I seem to lost the urge to quilt lately. But I am happy to report I have been able to make a few more blocks to complete my pinwheel UFO.
All I have left to do are 3 more blocks to complete this final border row and I’ll be finished with the top. I need a quilt show to get my mojo back!! Well, there is a shop hop next weekend, maybe I’ll check that out.
As for the something new, I decided to try my hand at knitting. For a long time, I’ve admired the knitting that Rudee does. She’s an awesome knitter. So, I was in Lobby Hobby one day and this soft curly yarn was just calling my name. So, I bought it. I pulled out my trusty Reader’s Digest Complete Guide to Needlework which showed me how to cast on. It felt very awkward, as did the first few rows of stitching. The stitches were very tight, but after the first few rows, it got a little better. I am very slow, but everyone has to start somewhere. This is what I’ve done so far
I don’t think this will replace my love of quilting, but I’m glad to be doing something creative.
Take care, and pictures of quilts on your blog would certainly be appreciated!!
Your pinwheel blocks are nice. My daughter taught herself to knit and she does a good job. I tired it once when I was a kid but never really had the urge to do it again. I think your doing a good job so far.
ReplyDeleteI love to knit and find it to be almost as relaxing as quilting...it just takes longer cuz you're making the fabric you're going to use. Love your pinwheels. i'm also working on a pinwheel quilt and was going to sash them, but might have to think about setting them in the square like you did. Lane
ReplyDeleteI lose the urge to quilt sometimes too. I'm not hyperactive in body but I sure am in my brain. My therapist used to have to make sure she allowed 30mins between me and the next client cause she needed a rest. She said I have a racehorse brain *LOL* So I'm always bouncing from one thing to another. I haven't gone back to knitting but I did start to crochet an afghan which went by the wayside when I decided to try cross stitch again and then I ordered a new embroidery pattern for my stitchery club. So when do I have time or the urge to try a new quilt? It will come back. I've been here before. Great blocks.
